Capital Bank Botswana soars above challenges to realise profit

Capital Bank Botswana released its just ended financial year’s statements results of 31 December 2017, indicating a 14 per cent growth of its profits compared to 2016.
The bank announced their summarised financial results on Wednesday in Gaborone to their stakeholders, stating that they had made profits of just above P4 million from P23.8 million in 2016 to P27.3 million in 2017.
Speaking at the release of the financial results, Capital Bank CEO Mr Jaco Viljoen, said that even amidst the challenging banking climate, the bank’s strong history of growth had impressively outgrown the banking industry in the past four years. Mr Viljoen further said that Capital Bank’s establishment of their sound personal relationships with its clients allowed them to achieve better growth and profits.
“During the year 2014/15 Capital Bank had to re-strategise focusing on improving the bank’s momentum in service delivery and insurance of delivery of value to clients,” he said.
Looking further in the future, Mr Viljoen stated growing business in Botswana by emphasis on turnaround time and improved loan products for clients such as offering good quality loan back and customer deposits.
The bank which is a member of FMB Capital Group in Southern Africa opened its doors to the Banking services in Botswana in 2008 and priding itself as having run no loss since the opening of their business in the country.
The bank which has four opened branches in Botswana indicated its steady growth of profits from loans and advances to customers as well as deposits from customers.
The growth of loans and advances to customers was indicated with a 47 per cent in the last five years while deposits from customers into the bank grew by 18 per cent since 2013 standing at P1.8 billion in 2017.
The Capital Bank CEO further said that they hoped to attain a five per cent market share in the future, and grow from the current 2.5 per cent overall market share by 2020. Ends
