The constituency tournament in Bobirwa region has grown compared to the past years.

Bobirwa constituency tournament coordinator, Albert Madome said in an interview that over 1 000 youth from Bobonong constituency had registered for this year’s constituency tournament.

Madome said the mass registration showed that the message had reached communities, noting that the region had never before had such a big number. He said the numbers showed that the youth, more especially those from rural areas, had realised that the tournament was a good platform to showcase their talent.

“The other reason that has escalated the registration was job scarcity among the youth,” he said.

Madome said the successes of the tournament were a sign that the initiative was succeeding in unearthing talent.

He said football and netball were the fastest growing codes in the region.

Although there are not many Babirwa playing in elite football and netball clubs, Madome said Bobirwa was the home of football and netball.

He said shortage of playing grounds was the biggest challenge they were facing. Ends
