Women in Business Botswana expo this weekend

Women in Business Botswana (WIBA) will host its second annual High Tea and expo in Maun on Saturday (May 5).

The event will be held at new Maun Cresta hotel under the theme 'I walk to the wild side as we press for Progress'.

A member of Executive Council Rural, Environment and Agriculture Development from North West Province, South Africa, Ms Manketsi Tlhape is expected to perform the official opening.

The event manager, Ms Zenzele Hirschfeld revealed that Ms Tlhape would be accompanied by a South Africa Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) crew who would also cover the event.

She also said the event was expected to bring together women in all areas of the business industry to explore a variety of topics that would positively impact on other women.

It will attract women in business from Ngamiland, Ghanzi, Francistown and some surrounding villages and its main objective is to create a platform for women to interact, look back, share ideas , challenges, success with a view to grow, expand businesses and contribute to the growth of the economy.

Locally, she said they were expecting the acting Batawana paramount chief, Kgosi Kealetile Moremi and some successful business women such as Ms Connie Mbulawa, Ms Pearl Markus and Ms Hanna Lecha to grace the event where they would have an opportunity to share their successful stories and motivate other women.

Ms Hirschfeld appealed to women in business to buy tickets from WIBA office in Maun in order to secure a seat and a stall adding that the expo was designed to celebrate the works and sell products and services offered by women in the North West region.

She said speakers would focus and share some of the obstacles that hindered women from achieving their potential.

“This is an extraordinary time for women of all businesses including activists, creative entrepreneurs and executives and I urge you all to come.

It is a podium designed to rethink business and life with powerful influential minds and thinkers,” she stressed.

In addition, she said there was a lot to learn from those who were agents of change adding that there would be a dialogue focusing on current and emerging issues and solutions.

Ms Hirschfeld said the one day event would also feature performances, one-on-one interviews, panel discussions, interactive sessions and high level networking.

For her part, WIBA president, Ms Nametso Ntsoka-Car urged women in businesses to embrace the expo  as it would give them an opportunity  to show case their products and services.

She also said it would give them an opportunity to explore available opportunities in their surroundings and graduate from poverty which was one major challenge facing women.

She said they decided to hold the meeting in Maun because of its beauty and attraction as a tourism destination noting that there were many opportunities in the area which women could tap into. ENDS
