VP comforts Councillor Makgetho family

Vice President, Mr Slumber Tsogwane on Saturday (April 28) joined multitudes of mourners who paid their last respects to the late Ramokgwebana ward councillor, Alfred Makgetho.
Makgetho passed away on April 19 after a short illness and was buried at his home village Ramokgwebana.
Speaking at the funeral, Mr Tsogwane encouraged the family to find comfort in God, having lost a beloved one adding that the deceased had found rest because he was sick.
The Vice President said they were expecting a lot from the late councillor in terms of developments in his ward.
He said it was amazing how different speakers had described the late Makgetho as a patient and humble person.
Mr Tsogwane said his demeanor should be emulated by others as this would make voters happy which translated to a happy government.
“We are tasked to lead people who voted us into power hence we should lead in humility,” he said.
In his remarks, MP for Tati West, Mr Biggie Butale described the late Makgetho as someone who was very gentle and never insulted anyone.
He highlighted that the late was loved by children and youth because he supported their dreams in sport and culture which made him popular.
The MP said having served 21 years as a BDP member, he waited for the right time to contest for a council seat in 2014 which he won.
“He was loyal to BDP and we have lost a very patient and hardworking politician,” he said.
The deceased’s aunt Ms Simisani Makgetho described him as a very resourceful person who offered advice whenever called upon to.
She stated that he loved people which made him a much loved person by the people he interacted with.
She said the young boys he mentored called him uncle because he supported their dreams in the arts and sport especially football.
North East District council chairperson Mr Dikitso Mandevu reiterated that the late Makgetho was a humble and patient soul.
He stated that he was on the audit, education and SSHA committees where his contribution was immensely felt.
Mr Mandevu said the late was someone who aired his views in council sitting especially when it comes to water crisis in the Ramokgwebana ward.
“A good leader he was and he left a mark in his community and a huge gap at the North East District Council.
The deceased is survived by his wife, four sons and his mother. ENDS
