Battle for BSA posts on

Botswana  Softball Association (BSA) will on April 28 hold elections in Palapye.

Current BSA vice president, Katlholo Mosimanegape will wrestle for the association’s presidency with Citizen Entreprenuership Development Agency (CEDA) chief executive officer, Thabo Thamane.

In his manifesto, Mosimanegape argues that Botswana is highly regarded for having come of age in terms of commitment to the game of softball.

He said not only does the national teams compete on a regular basis at the international level, but that they have also earned a lot of respect on the international stage.

He said the recent World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) congress which was held in Botswana was one example of how the country was recognised and respected by the international community.

He said his vision was to take Botswana softball to greater heights and make it a force to reckon with nationally and internationally.

Their mission, he said, was to develop softball from the grassroots to the elite level ranging from how to play the game, technical aspects and through to management.

On the other hand, Thamane advocates for the need to change the landscape of softball.

He said his campaign team wanted to be identified with seven strategic tenets born out of the review of looking at the current status of the game such as financial sustainability and prudence, operational efficiency and effectiveness, governance and ethical conduct.

Softball, he said, should be seen as a career and an alternative to formal employment. He also promised economic equality for all teams, growth development and infrastructure development in major villages.

He said if elected in office he would ensure that the sport was beneficial to their purpose and accrue to the welfare and pride of softball players.

Paso Kgosietsile will face Batsetswe Gontlafetse for the vice president position while the secretary general position will be contested by Nozibonela Malunga-Payet and Anastacia Makwa.

Rijn Shagwa will face Lapologang Kethoilwe for the position of treasure. For the position of marketing and public relations there is Kelebogile Seitei and Molekane Bokhutlo.

Donald Fologang and Renny Molete will battle it out for the position of competitions organiser, Bobby Khupe and Kopano Kenneth will be both vying for the position of technical development officer. Ends
