As the International Working Group on Women and Sports (IWG) conference date approaches, the organisation has found it prudent to train Botswana Sports Volunteer Movement who will be working during the conference.
IWG, marketing and public relations manager Boitumelo Kenosi, said in an interview that the workshop was mainly to prepare individuals who would be assisting in different groups amongst them protocol, corporate and branding, logistics as well as equipping them with knowledge as to what was required from them.
“At the end of the conference, volunteers would receive a certificate and become certified volunteers who have been trained and who are eligible to become volunteers in other events of sport, both at the local and international level,” she said.
Botswana will host the seventh IWG World Conference On Women and Sport on May 17-20 at the Gaborone International Convention Centre.
The conference will be held under the theme: Determine The future. Be Part of the Change.
IWG promotes the uptake of Brighton plus Helsinki 2014 declaration in ensuring that all the international and national organisations were signatories to the declaration.
Their intention is to make sure that all the signatories’ policies were women- friendly, and implement the Brighton plus Helsinki 2014 declaration on women and sport.
RMC marketing chief executive officer, Rahman El-Kindiy who was facilitating the workshop said he was imparting knowledge on the volunteers on how to be good volunteers, etiquette, customer care and protocol.
He said more emphasis was on effects of protocol in conferences focusing on how to deal with delegates and government diplomats. Ends
