19 Apr 2018
Limkokwing University on April 17 hosted an open day to guide prospective students who wish to study on their programme of choice in the university.
Running in its third year since 2016, the annual open day this time around hosted the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) director of human resource development planning, Dr Ella Matshediso as one of the speakers.
Dr Matshediso gave the guests a corporate tour of the campus’s ecosystem which had learning facilities that catered for film, photography and hospitality just to mention a few.
Dr Matshediso said the open day was held with the sole intent to benefit both parents, potential sponsors, the general public and prospective students. She said they would guide them with picking a programme of study, saying they should take advantage of it.
She applaud the university for its open day, which she said enabled students with skills development, adding that the institution was a haven for skills development, for innovation and technology, graduating students who were work ready as well as entrepreneurs.
She urged all stakeholders of the open day to take it seriously as prospective students’ choice of study would affect their life career in the future.
The open day, which will run for three days starting Tuesday, will see the university’s staff members showcase their institution’s facilities to the public covering all 54 accredited programmes they offer.
Limkokwing’s Alumni and university industry advisory board member, Mr Malcome Makhura stated that Limkokwing had given him the platform to be the person he was.
Mr Makhura, who is a senior store manager at PicknPay, said his programme of study at the university gave him not only business precision, but also the confidence to be a successful businessman.
He praised the university which was awarded first precision for a private university in Botswana at the HRDC university awards and applauded Limkokwing for creating an open day to equip prospective students with the ability to wisely choose their programme of future study.
Limkokwing, the Malaysian formed university first opened its doors to Batswana in 2007, and has since grown enrolling thousands of students per year into their institution. ENDS
