Water scheme to benefit area
15 Apr 2018
Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services has told Parliament that the ministry was implementing North East and Tutume Sub-district water augmentation scheme as one of the World Bank-funded projects.
He said the project would benefit 52 villages in the North East and Tutume Sub-district, adding the consultancy for design review and tender management was awarded to ACE GIBB Pty (Ltd) for P22.7 million excluding VAT on April 5 this year.
Furthermore, he said construction which is estimated at P250 million will take 24 months effective December 2018 to December 2020.
Nkange Member of Parliament, Mr Edwin Batshu had asked the minister to provide a detailed milestone chart (delivery plan) for the reticulation of water from Ntimbale dam to the Tutume Sub-district, under the World Bank loan, considering that there was a looming water crisis situation, because some boreholes which have been supplying the area have collapsed.
