Parliament rejects BPOPF motion
15 Apr 2018
Parliament has rejected an urgent motion that requested government to instruct the Auditor General to conduct a forensic audit on the affairs of the Botswana Public Officers’ Pension Fund (BPOPF) with immediate effect.
The motion was tabled by Jwaneng-Mabutsane MP, Mr Shaun Ntlhaile, who, in his presentation, argued that public officers pension fund was by far the biggest in the country, hence it had started attracting people with nefarious intentions, other than to make good investments that would yield returns for pensioners.
A total of 17 MPs voted against discussion of the urgent motion while 12 agreed to it. ENDS
