Botswana to host Corporate Registers Forum

15 Apr 2018

Botswana is to host the Corporate Registers Forum (CRF) at Gaborone International Convention Centre from May 21-25.

The CRF is an international body consisting of corporate registries from 60 countries.

Botswana, which is the third African country to host such a gathering, is represented by the Company and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA).

Speaking at a media briefing to announce the forum recently, CIPA registrar general, Mr Conductor Masena said being a member of the CRF, CIPA benefited from benchmarking and learning from international best practices among other benefits.

“As the host of the 14th edition of the annual conference, we have taken the objective of the conference to a whole new level under the theme, Corporate Registries: A Critical Vehicle for Global Economic Growth,” he said.

Mr Masena pointed out that company regulation was not the responsibility of CIPA alone.

As such, he said CIPA had found it fit to invite local key stakeholders and strategic partners to give international visitors a local perspective on issues relating to companies, their ownership and compliance to the various statutes within Botswana legal and regulatory landscape.

The invited key stakeholders include the Botswana Unified Revenue Service, Botswana Investment and Trade Centre, Financial Intelligence Agency, National Strategy Office and the Competition Authority.

“It is fitting to proudly inform you that the beautiful CRF 2018 logo, which is seen on our event banners, was designed by a graphic design student by the name of Lame Dilotsotlhe from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology,” he said.

Mr Masena further indicated that the conference was sponsored by the Association of Business Consultants Botswana, BITC through Brand Botswana, Stanbic Bank Botswana and Foster Moore. ENDS
