Some LIMID beneficiaries never recieved vaccines
18 Jul 2013
Some recipients of goats under the Livestock Management Infrastructure Development (LIMID) programme in Boteti Sub-district at Khumaga never received vaccines and feeds in 2012, Assistant Minister of Agriculture has said. Responding to a parliamentary question, Mr Oreeditse Molebatsi said the shortfall was due to shortage of feeds, vaccines and drugs in Livestock Advisory Centres and private retailers at the time and that the items were subsequently supplied this year.
Mr Molebatsi explained that 29 small stock projects were established in Khumaga through LIMID and nine beneficiaries received the full package which included goats, feeds and veterinary requisites while 20 beneficiaries received goats only.
Boteti North MP, Mr Slumber Tsogwane had wanted to know whether the Minister of Agriculture was aware that recipients of goats under LIMID projects in Boteti Sub-district in 2012 at Khumaga never received vaccines and feeds, which led to the loss of some of their livestock, and if so, when would they receive such items.
