Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Mr Biggie Butale says he is aware of the company that was assisted by Botswana Investment and Trade Centre (BITC) to acquire land in Letlhakane.
He says that the company, named Zola 2 Zola Complex (Pty) Ltd and its directors presently at the time of the land acquired were Mr Zola Kealeboga Zaba who is a 100 per cent shareholder and was allocated the land on August 15, 2014 and hadn’t developed it yet.
The assistant minister continued to state that the land that is 8.4956 hactares in size was given to the investor originally to develop it and failing to do so would have it repossessed.
“Repossession is driven by circumstances on the ground and the decision not to repossess was to allow for resolution of the registered complaints,” the minister said.
He further said he was not aware that the company was sub-dividing the land for possible sale.
Mr Biggie Butale was answering a question from the Member of Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe who had asked the minister if he was aware of any company that was assisted by BITC to acquire land in Letlhakane and the name of the company and if the company used the land per proposal that was submitted and what was happening on the site.
The MP also wanted to know the size of the land and what BITC will do if this land is not used for the purpose intended as per proposal submitted.
He also added on the question of if it was true that the company was sub dividing the land for possible sale. ENDS
