Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya has implored school heads to have a vision about things they want their schools to achieve.

Officiating at the victory celebration for outstanding performance in the 2017 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) for Senete Primary School recently, Mr Goya said success would not come if the leader is not capable of inspiring and driving his or her subordinates to work hard.

The assistant minister further noted that for a school to score a 100 per cent pass mark, it needed the input of all key players, adding that working as a close knit often resulted in achievement of goals.

Furthermore, he pointed out that for such results to be attainable, the school head should be at the centre of coordinating all angles of the school so that they fully worked as an oiled machine.

He also noted that good results were not only made by teachers, but teachers formed part of the facilitating unit, which includes parents, alumina and other supporting staff.

In addition, Mr Goya said the leaders should work towards leaving a legacy where they are stationed, adding that in that way it would also build them for more leadership roles in the future.

He nonetheless noted that they were aware as their superiors that schools across the country were faced with challenges that included shortage of resources that could enable teachers to do their work fully.

However, government is working hard to address such things, hence in the new financial year of 2018/2019, schools should expect many changes with regard to distribution of their budget.

He also pointed out that the process of backlog eradication was still on going and Senete was among the schools that were going to benefit from the initiative.

Meanwhile, the assistant minister however decried that although the government through his ministry does maintenance in schools, damaging of school property was a great setback and a decision had been taken for parents to bear the responsibilities of repairs every damage made by their children.

Commending Senete for achieving 00 per cent consecutively in 2016 and 2017, the area legislator, Mr Edwin Batshu said such results were a track record that would form the history of the country.

He therefore applauded teachers as well as parents and teachers association and other stakeholders within the community for seeing the need to support the school.

He further urged them to continue the good work and promised to keep on supporting them.

He gave them P5 000 towards the celebration and a constituency floating trophy.
