Khama appreciates Tsootsha gifts

President Lt. Gen Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama says he is thankful for the gifts he got from Tsootsha residents and surrounding areas.
The gifts comprised 32 cows, three horses, 17 goats, cash amounting to over P9 000 and three donkeys among others.
He jokingly said that he intended to go back to his job of being a soldier but now since Batswana are constantly giving him presents that forces him to go on farming, he will definitely go into farming when he retires.
He told the gathering that he had a good time while in office with their Member of Parliament, Mr Christiaan De Graaff adding that he was obedient and a hard working individual who always went out of his way to help his constituents.
He said it is for that reason that he was hurt when De Graaff went to him and told him that he was resigning from being a Cabinet minister.
Mr De Graaff applauded the President for his visionary leadership as he came with good programmes that empowered everybody and resuscitated culture amongst others.
“You have laid a good foundation which will be relied upon for many years to come,” he said.
He said Botswana was respected worldwide because of the good leadership the President showed during his tenure adding that they were grateful for the developments in their area.
Welcoming guests to his village Kgosi Balusi Kaome of Tsootsha pointed out that they were grateful for his visit .
“You managed to identify the disabled, destitutes and introduced a lot of other initiatives such as housing appeal that helped Batswana out of poverty,” he said.
He said the President did his best to curb alcohol abuse during his tenure and there was no doubt that positive results were showing.
He lamented that Basarwa in his village did not have identity documents and said maybe a special dispensation must be availed for them to get them.
Mr Simon Kadikgetha who represented the youth concurred with Kgosi Kaome that the President instilled discipline among the youth and also encouraged them to nurture their talent through Presidential competitions.
He pointed out that he was the first President to go around the country meeting Batswana and getting to know their grievances and also giving out gifts.
Farmers of Ghanzi region which is well known for cattle farming also asked the President to help them with market for their produce because they were having a hard time accessing the BMC market. ENDS
