Vice President bids Matlhakoleng residents farewell

Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi on March 22 extended warm farewell greetings to residents of Matlhakoleng in the Moshupa/Manyana constituency before he ascends to the highest office on April 1.
Speaking during the meeting Mr Masisi thanked residents for the support they afforded him during the two terms he enjoyed as their representative.
Mr Masisi also area Member of Parliament was humbled by the fact that while some development projects they had wished for like the upgrading of Sambia dam at Matlhakoleng were yet to actualise, residents still appreciated his representation and achievements.
Mr Masisi has however vowed to follow the projects up.
The Vice President has meanwhile advised constituents to pick a competitive individual to take up where he would leave off when he becomes President.
He stressed that replacing him with someone who would work hand in hand with him to advance the cause of the constituency would all the more sure benefit the area and the nation at large.
“That feeling is mutual, if I was of any help to you, know that it is because you were also of help to me. My promotion to the highest office will never separate me from you although this time I will be representing the whole nation in Parliament,” he said. He was reacting to Ms Ontefetse Baakile who had described him as a shining star. Ms Baakile said they were proud to have voted Mr Masisi to Parliament.
Mr Masisi further thanked Moshupa Sub -district public officers for serving residents with humility and definitiveness of purpose.
He took the opportunity to dismiss as baseless and unfortunate, allegations thick in the air that he used his position to loot the National Petroleum Fund P3 million. “My conscience is clear. I have even informed President
Khama that I am more than ready to get stripped of my position before I become President if it ever comes to light that I have indeed benefited from the fund, ” he said.
Another speaker Mr Molemisi Koloi also thanked Mr Masisi for reigniting the spirit of self-help across his constituency.
He said they built a toilet at Matlhakoleng through contributions from officers and residents who had attended a workshop thanks to Mr Masisi’s leadership. He further commended Mr Masisi, who he described as a man of education, for advocating for out of school classes to be extended to Matlhakoleng residents.
He said Mr Masisi was aware that the greatest gift he could give them was education. Residents donated a goat, chickens and P290 to Mr Masisi. Ends
