Masisi thanks constituents for working well with him

Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says he will follow the footsteps of his predecessor to ensure Batswana continue to get good services .
Speaking during a kgotla meeting he addressed in Polokwe and Pyetle in his constituency on March 22 to bid residents farewell, Mr Masisi therefore challenged his constituents to vote wisely for a trustworthy candidate as he vacates the vice presidency office in a week’s time.
He said the new Member of Parliament should be somebody who was active and eager to develop Moshupa/Manyana constituency.
The Vice President assured residents that upon assuming the presidency, he would assign Cabinet ministers and MP’s to tour the country including Polokwe and Pyetle to update Batswana on issues of national interest.
He further told residents that he was the one who fought tooth and nail to make sure Polokwe become a recognised settlement.
Polokwe settlement was supposed to be demolished by Land Board because it was not recognised by then, but he said he stood by his electorates because the residents had been staying there for a long time.
He said he consulted with Cabinet ministers as well as Land Board to assist him to bring visible developments to the area. Settlements who were recognised after thorough consultations was Polokwe, Tshwaane, Gookodisa, Bikwe and Machana in his constituency.
Mr Masisi said that his wish and dream was to develop Polokwe to be a tourism area because it had good landscape waterfall that runs down the hill.
He also said he residents could form a Trust so that they could bring wild animals to the area to attract tourists.
Mr Masisi told residents that the P10 million constituency allowance should be used to install solar street lights in the villages in his constituency.
Kgosi Moses Nkolo of Polokwe expressed gratitude to the Vice President for having dedicated his time to serving his constituecy and encouraged the Vice President to keep working with Batswana the same way he did with his constituents.
Ms Ratho Morupisi who is VDC chairperson praised the Vice President that ‘he is the real messiah who came up with long lasting solutions for their village challenges.’
She noted that the Vice President contributed immensely to the development of Polokwe and the constituency at large.
Ms Morupisi said they had benefited a lot from government assistance programmes such as LIMID, ISPAAD, backyard gardening and solar lights.
She said the Vice President made sure that there was water reticulation in Polokwe.
Village elder, Mr Okatswa Sekoma advised Mr Masisi to be fearless as they would support him all the way.
He challenged the Vice President to encourage Cabinet ministers to visit the area when he takes the reigns to see how best they could assist in times of need.
In Pyetle the residents were over the moon to bid their MP farewell and chanted songs of praise for their MP. Ends
