Leases deeds public documents - Maele
15 Mar 2018
All common law leases at land boards and those registered at deeds registry are public documents, says the Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Prince Maele.
Answering a question in Parliament on March 14, Mr Maele said the public may access such documents after a request had been made to the relevant authorities.
“Members of the public may view the documents upon identifying themselves, and they may only make copies of properties registered in their names or with authority from registered owner or upon an order of court,” he said.
MP for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked if common law leases held by land boards, but not registered at the Deeds Registry were public documents which members of public have the right to view like certificates Of Customary Grants in terms of Section 16 (2) of the Tribal Land Act and all such leases registered at the Registry of Deeds in terms of Deeds Registry Act.
Still in Parliament, Minister Maele explained that Kweneng Land Board has made a ranch layout proposal for demarcation of ranches in Kweneng District at KW6 between Tshwaane, Khekhenye and Motokwe area.
The ministry, he said, was in the process of harmonising the proposal with a ranch layout from neighbouring Southern District at S02 in order to align the proposals and facilitate coordinated development.
Answering a question from Member of Parliament for Takatokwane, Mr Ngaka Ngaka who had asked him to update the house on the demarcation of farm ranches at Kweneng District, Mr Maele said the harmonisation of the proposal was ongoing and expected to be completed by June. ENDS
