Accounts dept experiences delay
14 Mar 2018
Tutume Sub-district accounts department and those in other districts have been experiencing delays in paying the business community on time.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso in response to a parliamentary question on Tuesday.
Ms Tshireletso said the delays were sometimes due to submission of incorrect invoices by suppliers and disparities in the information provided on the local purchase order against information recorded on the invoice.
She also admitted that there were instances of unnecessary delays on the part of their officers, and that the ministry would continuously monitor payment to suppliers within the standard of 10 days from the time an invoice was received to the time the supply was paid, and to take corrective measures as and when delays arose.
Nata/Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga had asked the assistant minister if she was aware that the Tutume Sub-district accounts department did not pay suppliers on time, and that it had been going on for some months and to state what caused the delay and when would it be addressed. Ends
