KBL has one hearing loss case
14 Mar 2018
There is one existing case involving induced hearing loss on both ears by a former employee of Kgalagadi Breweries Limited, says Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo.
He said the case was reported to the commissioner of workers compensation on July 7, 2014.
In addition, he explained that the claim for workers compensation was processed and forwarded to management of Kgalagadi Breweries on December 3, 2014 for payment of compensation to the person involved.
Mr Mabeo said the employee concerned had not yet been compensated because AON Botswana which was the employer’s insurance broker argued that the injury was not illegible for compensation.
He further said he instructed the commissioner of worker’s compensation to take up the matter with the management of Kgalagai Breweries Limited.
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana had wanted to know how many former and present employees of Kgalagadi Breweries Limited had suffered hearing impairment due to noise pollution from their plant machinery, and whether they had been compensated. Ends
