Kgatleng Land Board takes services to people

Kgatleng Land Board held its first open day at Pilane Crossing Mall on March 10 as a way of reaching out to customers.
Speaking at the open day, Bakgatla Deputy Paramount Chief Sekai Linchwe said it was important for people to know the services provided by the land board so that they could benefit from the free knowledge given to them.
“The open day is important in that it allows land board clients to share their views and opinions regarding the services that are provided,” he said.
He said the open day would benefit most people as it gave them a chance to seek relevant help and enquiries concerning land management issues.
However Kgosi Sekai said he was not impressed with the rate at which land was being sold in Kgatleng especially to expatriates saying it was a challenge as locals needed land for different purposes.
He pleaded with Batswana not to sell their land but rather lease it for business opportunities adding that land was a heritage that one could pride themselves with.

Kgosi Kaepaura Kaeparura of Pilane appreciated Kgatleng Land Board for the open day and said many people would benefit from it. Kgosi Kaeparura said it was important for people to get knowledge on the services provided by government departments so that they were always up to date with the right information.
He also encouraged the nation to take part in land management issues and seek help where they do not understand.
Kgatleng Land Board chairperson Ms Margret Mabua appreciated those who took part in the open day saying this showed how Batswana were keen in knowing land management issues and resolutions they could undertake.
Ms Mabua said the open day was held to share knowledge and ideas on how to solve land management issues and also how to improve their services.
She however said she was not happy with the way people responded to land registration arguing that they were too slow to register their plots.
She also said the rate at which land was sold in Kgatleng was also worrisome and urged clients to utilise their land or to lease it.
Ms Mabua encouraged people to register their land as soon as they could and she also said the new certificates would be given to people who had registered their land.
Ms Dolly Letlhare a business advisor at Local Enterprise Authority (LEA) said no business could operate without land. She said through the open day the nation had been sensitised on land use management alongside business venture to earn income. Ends
