The inter club boxing tournament held at the Village Botswana Defence Force Barracks was a marvel to watch despite the low turnout.

The Botswana Boxing Association (BoBA) tournament  featured best of the best in various weight divisions.

The fight between Lentswe Zwinila of Glen Valley and Mmusi Tswiige of Prison Boxing Club in the 75 kg was interesting to watch, with Zwinila emerging the overall winner by 2-1.

Zwinila boxed well and whenever he entered the ring, he made sure his opponent received a jab immediately.

There were two fights under this category. However, Kgosietsile Kenosi of Prisons Boxing Club was disqualified against Khumalo Chabulula of Tsabong Boxing Club for not wearing a groin protector.

Another interesting fight was between Raymond Gofenyamang of Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) and Dithapelo Mmapadi of Kang Boxing Club (KNBC) in the 60 kilogramme category. Most people expected Mmapadi to win even before the bout started.

Unfortunately that never happened and Gofenyamang emerged as the victor.

Still in the 60kg, Kefetse Molalapata of University of Botswana (UB) was in control throughout the three rounds, starting at high pace and attacking his opponent Pitso Mmopiemang, still from UB.

Mmopiemang tried to fight back in the second round but failed to score points.  The bout was interesting with both boxers urged on by the crowd. Mmopiemang said he was not prepared for the bout, adding however things would be different the next time around.

Molalapata, on the other hand, said he enjoyed the fight adding that he had long developed love for the sport.  In the 69 kg bout, Phemelo Mphafe of BMC suffered a 2-1 loss to Mompate Gaanamoste of Ghanzi Boxing Club while Marshall Mokgwelwa of Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTCB) beat Bakang Mese of UB 2-1.

Phane Ontlafetse of Eastern Military Garrison (EMG) was beaten 2-1 by Ronnie Magudu of Thebephatswa Boxing Club in the 69kg category.  BoBA publicity secretary Taolo Tlouitsile said the tournament went as planned. Ends
