Mongae propels Miscellaneous to victory
12 Mar 2018
Orebotse Mongae was the hero of the day as he scored a hat trick for Miscellaneous to hand them a thumping 3-0 victory against Sharps Shooting Stars at the University of Botswana stadium on Saturday.
If the current form guide was anything to go by, Sharps were the favorites going in to the Saturday encounter as they were unbeaten in their last four games compared to their Serowe based counterparts who had a three game winless spell.
Miscellaneous was however the hungrier of the two as they drew the first blood by a close range tap in from Mongae in the late stages of the first half to take a one goal advantage going into recess.
Sharps were left to rue their slow start and composure in the second half as Mongae found the back of the net twice in the second half to take his goal tally for the season to 13 to lighten up the race for the league’s top goal scorer and equal Gaborone United’s Thatayaone Kgamanyane at the helm of the top goal scorers’ charts.
Victory for Miscellaneous could not have come at the right time as ‘Tse Nala’ as the Miscellaneous are affectionately called by their fans looked to solidify a top eight finish in the league by registering their 10th victory of the season and an impressive 37 points.
The inclusion of technical director Mike Sithole and assistant coach Michael Mogaladi has given Sharps confidence and revived the team’s fortunes as they had an impressive run in the league going into the Saturday game despite their BTC premier league rookie status but victory against Miscellaneous looked like an unattainable dream.
In his post-match interview, Miscellaneous head coach, Oris Radipotsane admitted that results had been hard to come by having last won against Gilports Lions and drawing the following two fixtures and suffering a shocking defeat to Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
He applauded his team for a positive response following their current dry spell highlighting that they have been dominant in their last encounters with their finishing only leaving a lot to be desired hence the Saturday’s victory was long overdue to boost his team’s morale going into the next encounter.
Radipotsane showered his three goal hero Mongae with praises labeling him as the hottest property in the premier league thus far. “Mongae is young and I believe that with proper mentoring, he has a lot to offer the league and may be the national team,” he said.
Mogaladi however was left lost for words but only decried the poor match officiating indicating that it deprived the handful spectators what could have been an entertaining spectacle. Ends
