Church donates to the needy

17 Jul 2013

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II of Barolong has applauded the Holy African Priest (HAP) church for donating food, water and clothes to the needy.

Speaking during the church’s donation of 137 blankets to the elderly residents of Kanye recently, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng said the gesture was a demonstration of the love of Christ.

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng thanked the church for having seen the need to donate to the elderly people, whom he described as having contributed immensely to the country's development.

He explained that the church had always played a pivotal role in nation building through care and compassion to the less privileged. He said a true church of God was the light of the world.

Kgosi Lotlaamoreng however, raised a concern about the mushrooming of new churches which in most cases came about as a result of power struggles. He said the habit gave churches bad names.

He advised Christians to cultivate the habit of solving their differences rather than opting to form own churches, adding it was natural for people to differ on certain issues.

Meanwhile, the Jesus Generation Movement (JGM), a conglomeration of different Christian denominations also donated food hampers to a destitute person Mrs Ngwanakhumo Roopedi of Ga Sebako ward in Kanye last weekend. JGM leader, Mrs Peggy Ratsebe said the donation was inspired by the love of God.

She said just as they had been freely given, they should also give to those in need freely. She said as a bible based movement, they wanted to grow in wisdom and stature in favour with God and man hence the outreach.

When receiving the donation, Kgosi Dikgageng Sebati commended JGM for the gesture adding a Christian could move mountains and speak in tongues only angels would decipher but without love they had nothing. The event was also attended by JGM members from Lesotho, South Africa and Zambia.ENDS
