President urges Barolong to preserve culture

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has advised Barolong to preserve their culture as it defines who they are.
In his address to bid Barolong farewell on March 9, he said the welcome he received from women wearing cultural attire indicated that they were cautious of their roots.
When welcoming President Khama, Barolong acting paramount chief, Kgosi Botiki Motshegare commended him for being exemplary to upcoming leaders.
He said President Khama had displayed the spirit of sacrifice which upcoming leaders could learn from.
Kgosi Motshegare said he admired the spirit of team work exuded by President Khama, adding that it was part of the legacy he would leave behind.
On other issues, Kgosi Motshegare expressed concern over the shortage of land in his area and asked government to assist where possible.
For his part, Member of Parliament, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng thanked the President for his good governance.
On issues concerning Good Hope Senior Secondary School, he said an urgent assessment was needed to address challenges at the school.
He also asked for an upgrade of the sub-district to become a fully-fledged district.
Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Eric Molale described President Khama as a leader who got wisdom from God.
He also said President Khama was a good team player who always took advice from people he worked with.
He said his trait of respecting the ideas of others and implementing them was one of the qualities that he had learnt from him.
“He is a hard worker who wants to see results and indeed he has left a legacy,” he said
He also said he had come up with programmes that had benefitted Batswana. Ends
