Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Kitso Mokaila has explained that Air Botswana has a total of eight board members.

Minister Mokaila pointed out that according to Section 4 (1) of the Air Botswana Act, the minister may, in addition to the chairperson, appoint between five and seven more people.

The additional people, he said, were those who in the opinion of the minister had extensive knowledge and experience likely to contribute to the successful management of the corporation.

He said of the eight members, including the chairperson, two had commercial aviation experience while the rest had commercial experience in other fields.

The minister said the qualifications and experience of the remaining six members were lawyer, human resource specialist, marketing specialist, accountant, tourism specialist as well as a courier specialist.

The Member of Parliament for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had wanted the minister to state the number of board members of Air Botswana, those with commercial aviation experience and those with other relevant qualifications and experience.

The MP had also asked the minister to state the qualifications of the board members. Ends
