Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo says CA Sales has a total of 850 employees in Gaborone and Francistown.

He said the last labour inspection conducted at CA Sales on November 27, 2017 had revealed that all employees have valid employment contracts for a specified or unspecified period of time and are in compliance with the Employment Act.

Minister Mabeo further said the labour inspection also revealed that drivers at CA Sales are paid P100 per day as a trip allowance in lieu of overtime.

“Labour inspectors were informed that CA Sales and its drivers already have a trade dispute concerning payment of overtime, which was heard by the Industrial Court March 9, 2017, and the matter is pending judgment,” he said.

However, minister Mabeo said ‘although Section 95 of the Employment Act provides for payment of overtime allowance, it is deemed proper to wait for the court determination on the matter’.

He was responding to a question in Parliament by Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana, who wanted to know the outcome of the last labour visit report at CA Sales in Commerce Park concerning contracts of employees and overtime for drivers. ENDS
