Partnership with church vital in fighting moral decay
06 Mar 2018
Churches have been challenged to form a constructive partnership with government towards fighting societal moral decay rife within societies and replace it with a set of strong Christian values.
Delivering a keynote address during the official launch of the P12.5 million Assemblies of God Church building launch dinner, Molepolole South Member of Parliament, Dr Tlamelo Mmatli on behalf of the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development, Mr Nonofo Molefhi, said the church establishment was critical in that it is there for a purpose to instill discipline.
“The Government of Botswana recognises the establishment and the role of churches in guarding against social ills such as moral decay which is mostly prevalent among our young people, Dr Mmatli stated.
He further implored churches to observe the law and ensure that church leaders were fully equipped with theological skills that would enable smooth operations through abiding by the constitution.
“I believe this kind of training is an empowerment tool which shall forever define your role in the development of Christianity,” said Dr Mmatli.
The MP encouraged churches to demonstrate good governance skills especially in complying with stipulated regulations and to ensure that the constitution is properly used to guide accordingly.
The MP highlighted that he was encouraged by the fact that the facility aimed to house 5 000 people will be a state of the art with modern facilities such as offices, kitchen, toilets and other specialised rooms.
Giving a word of encouragement, Bible Life Ministry’ founder, Apostol Dr Enock Setima made emphasis over the need for the Molepolole Assemblies of God congregants to work towards the realisation of the dream through members’ determination and commitment.
“It is important that you remain focused on what you intend doing and think less about money by concentrating on the purpose and ensure that there is no more turning back no matter challenges you may encounter,” encouraged Rev. Setima.
Kgosikgolo Kgari III in his closing remarks challenged individual members of Molepolole Assemblies of God to contribute significantly towards the impending project, stating that the amount of money raised through Alcohol Levy highlights the potentials most Batswana have.
Giving the project overview, Molepolole Assemblies Rev. Anthony Oitsile expressed happiness over the overwhelming support towards the event that raised over P200 000.
He said they are hoping to raise funds mainly through the concept of Motho le Motho Kgomo where individual Bakwena members in various Assemblies of God across the country will be required to contribute a beast equivalent to P5 000.
“Our wish is to have the first phase of the project completed in the next five years while the expectation was to have the whole project completed by 2024,” highlighted Rev. Oitsile. ENDS
