Delayed meals affect lessons

16 Jul 2013

The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development regrets that students miss lessons due to delayed preparation of meals.

Answering a question in Parliament, Mr Patrick Masimolole said the ministry had since carried out maintenance of pots at Lempu Junior Secondary School in Salajwe. Mr Masimolole said the two pots had been overhauled and were not fully functional adding that the accessories to repair the other two pots were not found in the local market and had since been ordered from outside.

He said the work was expected to be completed by the end of August this year. Letlhakeng West MP, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had wanted to know if the minister was aware that electric pots and gas stoves at Lempu Junior Secondary School in Salajwe were not working and that cooking with firewood resulted in students missing first lessons often which contributed to poor performance. Mr Ngaka also wanted to know if the minister will address the situation. ENDS
