Ramotswa school due for maintenance

01 Mar 2018

Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya says the last time Ramotswa Junior Secondary School was maintained was in the 2011/12 financial year.

He said this in response to a question from Ramotswa MP, Mr Samuel Rantuana on February 28.

Mr Goya, however, said the school was in their plans for cyclic maintenance in 2018/19.

The assistant minister said he was aware that ablutions for special education students at the school were located outside of the hostels.

Parliament heard that the ministry had engaged night watchmen to oversee them and to provide general security for the school at night.

He also explained that the school was in the process of engaging a private security company, saying they would commence service on April 1 this year, specifically for the hostel security.

MP Rantuana had wanted to know if the minister was aware that ablutions for special education students at Ramotswa Junior Secondary School were located outside the hostels.

He further asked what plans the ministry was putting in place to protect the deaf students when they needed to visit the ablutions at night, and what the ministry was doing to improve security at the hostels as well as when the cyclic maintenance was last done at the school. ENDS
