VDC members to receive allowance increment

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says her ministry appreciates the role played by Village/Ward Development Committees as local level voluntary community leadership structures that are contributing in a significant way to the development of the country
Ms Tshireletso also stated that the current allowances paid to committee members had been increased by P100 effective 1st April 2017 to P370 and P340 for umbrella chairpersons and members respectively, and P350 and P320 for Village/Ward Development Committee chairperson and members respectively.
Furthermore, Ms Tshireletso explained that the review of village development committes and ward development committees and ward allowances was done at intervals determined by government, adding that the last was done in April 2017.
The Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Mr Wynter Mmolotsi wanted to know when the minister would consider paying ward development committees and village development committees an allowance which was commensurate with their work. ENDS
