JwanengMabutsane villages electrified

27 Feb 2018

The Ministry of Mineral Resources, Green Technology and Energy Security has implemented electrification projects in three villages in Jwaneng/Mabutsane constituency during the 2017/18 financial year.

Mineral resources, green technology and energy security minister, Advocate Sadique Kebonang said the three villages were Seherelela and Itholoke as new electrifications, and Sese as an extension of network to cover other areas of the village.

The minister said his ministry intended to electrify all villages and settlements in Botswana because universal access to electricity would ensure sustainable economic growth and improved quality of life for the general populace.

“Electrification will further bring industrialisation to villages,” said the minister, explaining that the Seherelela electrification project was expected to be completed next month at a cost of P3.3 million.

He added that the Itholoke village electrification project was completed in January 2018 at a cost of P1.5 million.

Furthermore, he said the Sese village network extension project would be completed in March 2018 at a cost of P5.1 million.

Jwaneng/Mabutsane MP, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile had asked the minister to apprise Parliament on developmental projects by the ministry for the Jwaneng/Mabutsane constituency. ENDS
