Feasibility study on land development ongoing

The Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi says his ministry is currently doing a feasibility study at SO2 WMA. He said the assessment for fenced ranching are still ongoing in the area and the exercise is expected to be completed by June 2018.
He further said the recommendations of the study can only be known and released at the completion of the exercise. He noted that the Southern District is suitable for beef production, arable farming and tourism and this must be developed for the benefit of the area and the nation at large. Mr Moipisi highlighted that during the feasibility study, the area communities were consulted and such consultation will be done after the consideration of the recommendations by relevant authorities.
Mr Moipisi was responding on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture Development and Food Security to a question in parliament asked by MP for Jwaneng/Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Nthaile . The MP had asked the minister to state if a feasibility study was carried out and when it was concluded, how the recommendations were aligned to National Development Plan 11 and when the recommendations would be shared with affected communities.
