Standard Chartered Bank, in partnership with Orange Botswana, has launched the Bank2Wallet service.

Through the Bank2Wallet service, Standard Chartered Bank customers can transfer money from their bank account to an Orange Money Wallet, thus providing yet another inclusive finance platform.

The service grants Standard Chartered Bank customers  the opportunity to enjoy even greater financial support to those closer to them since they can transfer money from their Standard Bank account to Orange Money through the Standard Chartered Mobile Banking App and Online banking platform.

The partnership allows both Orange Botswana and Standard Charted Bank to leverage their strengths to contribute positively to the growth of the informal sector and the finance sector.

In his remarks at the launch of the service, Standard Banks head of retail products, Mr Brian Mfula said together with the bank’s  award winning online and mobile platforms, the product offered not only financial inclusion, but the convenience and ease of use that came with their world class platforms.

“With time, we will be growing the Mobile Money platform to increase coverage, and adding innovative enhancements such as the ability to send funds back from a Mobile Wallet to your Standard Chartered Bank account and linking the capability to our Straight2Bank online banking platform for enterprises which would allow businesses to use our digital platforms to pay to Mobile Wallets – this is not a static product, there is plenty still to comem,” Mr Mfula explained.

Orange Money acting director, Mr Kealeboga Sebolai said the service was a catalyst to seamless financial transactions between the banked and the unbanked.

Mr Sebolai also stated that since its inception in 2011, Orange Money has grown exponentially reaching over 600 000 registered users in 2017, and in the process becoming the leading mobile money service with a market share of 70 per cent.

“Most importantly for us as Orange Botswana, this service affirms our commitment towards contributing to the development and evolution of Botswana’s financial landscape,” Mr Sebolai concluded.

Bank2Wallet is available on all handsets and all Standard Chartered Bank customers with phones could send money from their account to an Orange Money Wallet.Ends
