No budget to repair houses
21 Feb 2018
Mpule Kwelagobe Children’s village has 44 cluster housing units and 25 of the houses are not in use because they require major maintenance and renovation.
This was said by Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen in Parliament on February 20.
Mr Van Der Westhuizen said “the ministry does not have a budget to repair the houses and is engaging the private sector in Jwaneng to assist with the renovation and repair of the housing units in order to bring them to use.”
He further said utilisation of the houses would take place after the repair work had been done.
Member of Parliament for Jwaneng/Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile had asked the minister if he was aware of vacant houses at Mpule Kwelagobe Children’s village and if so, to state the total number of units available, those vacant and plans in place to utilise them. ENDS
