Kweneng recognises staff

Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Van Der Westhuisen has encouraged district councils to ensure that service delivery remained their priority and focus.

He spoke of the need for local authorities to be reformed and strengthened to rise to legitimate demands of citizens for provision of higher quality service.

“It is not easy working for Kweneng District of all our large districts as it is nearest to us at headquarters. It is in this regard that we expect personnel that serve in this district to work a little extra than those in other areas,” said the assistant minister duringKweneng District Council and Tribal Administration’s second joint excellence awards held at Kgari Sechele Senior Secondary School recently.

For his part, the guest speaker and First National Bank’s chief executive officer Mr Steven Bogatsu said improved  service delivery required learning new government processes to become accustomed to government policies and programmes.

He said it was important that through excellence awards, staff was being encouraged to keep up the spirit of hardwork and move service delivery in the country to a higher level.

Recognising excellence, he said, was key to public service ability to deliver on its commitment to improving productivity .

He said as enhanced customer service delivery was one of government’s top priority areas, it was important that officers were aligned appropriately to different work environment, adding that this could only be achieved through dedication and commitment to set goals and targets.

The awards he said were not only based on celebrating wins but were also meant to showcase and share experiences by peers in the quest for excellence  

The FNBB chief commended the two institutions’ leadership for remaining focused and exemplary by initiating a joint staff excellence awards spearheaded by Kweneng District Council.

Mr Bogatsu expressed gratitude on contribution made by all employees as it was collective efforts that enable the two institutions to reach the intended goal.

The FNBB CEO offered to sponsor a staff innovation prize in the next awards aimed to encourage innovation among staff.

The KDC chairperson Mr Jeffrey Sibisibi, encouraged employees of the two sister departments to join hands and go an extra-mile and constantly make KDC a council of choice.

Mr Goleba Kgari, the KDC’s chief executive officer is grateful about the initiative of excellence awards as it was meant to motivate workers for improved services that could not easily be attained without recognition among team workers.

Mogoditshabe Sub-district under the leadership of the sub-district senior council secretary Mr Milton Keitshokile repeated its success for the second time to receive best sub-district award while Mr Gofaone Kgabanyane from Molepolole Administrative Authority got a prize for an exemplary leader while Messrs Gabaseme of Tribal Administration and Sadie Letsholo of KDC emerged victorious as overall awards winners.ENDS
