The adoption and introduction of the Whistle Blowing Policy by Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) has promoted its mandate of accountability, fairness and transparency in the fight against corruption.

Speaking at a Media Capacity Building workshop held at Masa Centre on Tuesday, Mr Ontiretse Diboko, internal audit manager at the PPADB, said the workshop was held to engage with media to help empower them with procurement literacy not only in the bidding community but to engage the public on ethics of procurement through newswriting.

Mr Diboko highlighted that the Whistle Blowing Policy which was launched in June 2017 in their organisation was put in place to promote anti-corruption measures and sustain high ethical standards to promote transparency in their operations and protect their reputation.

“The policy provides a safe and secure avenue for employees of PPADB, members of the general public, contractors and other stakeholders to raise concerns and disclose information which the whistleblower believes may show malpractice,” Mr Diboko said.

Other speakers included Mr Augustine Tema the divisional manager-works at PPADB who gave an overview of the public procurement system and emphasised tneed for he public to engage with them so they were aware of tendering and awarding requirements. Ends
