No provision for admin blocks

18 Feb 2018

There is no provision to build administration block at Letlole, Gasiko, Metsimotlhabe and Serameng primary schools under the current National development Plan (NDP) 11 and District Development Plan (DDP) 8.

Responding to a question in Parliament recently, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlhogile Tshireletso said the current plan focuses on backlog eradication for construction of primary school classrooms, teachers’ quarters and toilet blocks.

She however said she was aware of the current shortage; and she encouraged the constituency leadership to utilise the constituency community development funds to address the shortage.

Gabane-Mmankgodi MP, Maj Gen. Pius Mokgware had asked the assistant minister when she would build administration blocks at the above-mentioned schools.

The assistant was also to explain if she was aware that teachers in the said schools have no meeting rooms to consult stakeholders such as Parents and Teachers Association (PTA).

In response to another question from the same MP, the assistant minister said there was no provision for the construction of reception classes in NDP11 and DDP8. She said in this regard, constituency leadership could consider utilising Constituency Development Funds to construct reception classes where there are no available classrooms.

Maj General Mokgware had asked the minister when she would resolve the acute shortage of classroom for reception classes within his constituency and if there was a roll out plan for the construction of those classrooms. Ends
