The salary scale A is part of the Paterson Job Evaluation Method THAT uses grade A to F, as such one cannot arbitrarily remove one grade as it will distort the grading system used, Parliament was informed.

Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe said notwithstanding that, government has commissioned a consultancy to comprehensively review the salaries across the public service with a view to make a determination on the appropriateness of the current salaries relative to the performance of the economy.

This was in response to a question in Parliament by Ghanzi North legislator, Mr Noah Salakae, who had wanted to know if government would consider phasing out the Public Service A Salary Scale as a way of addressing the economic challenge of high income inequality identified under the National Development Plan 11.
