No plans to build school in Shorobe

14 Feb 2018

Government has no plans to build a new junior secondary school in Shorobe because there are not enough students from the feeder schools.

Responding to a question asked by Member of Parliament for Maun East, Mr Kostantinos Markus, the Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Moiseraele Goya said this in Parliament when answering a question from  Mr Markus.

He explained that in order to necessitate the construction of a new junior secondary school in Shorobe, there needs to be enough children from the feeder primary schools.

The assistant minister further said this year, only 94 students would seek boarding in Motopi Junior Secondary School and the number does not warrant the construction of a new school in Shorobe.

The 94 students are from Khwai, Mababe, Sankoyo, Shorobe and Matlapana villages.

The Maun East legislator had asked the minister if he would not consider building a junior secondary school in Shorobe to ease congestion in Mopipi.

Mr Markus also wanted to know if the minister was aware that children from Khwai, Mababe, Sankoyo, Shorobe and Matlapana villages attend junior secondary school in Motopi village. Ends
