Welldone Emang - Ralotsia
11 Feb 2018
Emang Junior Secondary School pupils have been commended for good behaviour and keeping their school free from vandalism.
Member of Parliament for Kanye North, Mr Patrick Ralotsia said compared to other schools he visited, Emang was also clean.
During a meeting where he addressed the teachers, staff and Parents Teachers Associations (PTA)s recently, he commended the relationship between parents and teachers, saying working together was the best way to help students succeed.
The meeting was also attended by head teachers, PTAs from schools in Ntlhantlhe, Kgomokasitwa and Lekgolobotlo as well as headmen.
Mr Ralotsi, who is also Minister of Agricultural Development and Food Security, said good communication was one of the keys to parents and teachers working together.
He stated that parents and teachers shared the same goals for children.
“They want each individual to do their best.
This will happen when parents and teachers work together,” he said.
He advised parents and teachers to create a partnership focused on creating the best experience and environment for the pupils.
‘’When schools and parents work together cooperatively, students succeed. It demonstrates to your child that he can trust his teachers, because you do.
This positive relationship motivates the student with knowledge that important people in his life are working together,” he noted.
Mr Ralotsia, a former teacher himself, was not impressed by some irresponsible parents whom he said sold drugs to students, in the process destroying their destinies.
He said students were future leaders, hence the need to be nurtured and protected by both parents and teachers.
On another issue, he advised parents and some politicians to refrain from interfering with politics in the management of schools.
He said party politics should be avoided at all costs.
He said even though the school was performing fairly well in other activities, he was not happy with school results.
For his part, the director of education, southern region, Mr Acronews Maseko indicated that they were good at planning, but failing to implement some of the programmes.
Mr Maseko noted that they would decentralise the procurement of text books and indicated that his department had availed P500 000 to maintain Emang infrastructure, which included classrooms and teachers quarters.
He encouraged parents to assist government in educating their children by giving support.
Earlier on, the school head, Mr Donald Seitsang congratulated Mr Ralotsia, who visits them time and again.
He said enrolment was at 429, with 41 teachers and 3 temporary qualified teachers.
The school has 12 classrooms and laboratories. Ends
