ReABaTsaa in line for for BT Sports Industry accolades

11 Feb 2018

The International Netball Federation has been short listed for the BT sports industry awards 2018 social media campaign of the year.

The INF is short listed for the Netball World Youth Cup 2017 which was successfully hosted by Botswana last year.

ReABaTsaa will battle it out with Adidas Football for Messi Piano, ATP Media for Tennis TV, Bauer Media for Country Walking magazines #walk1000miles and European Tour for Access All Areas.

According to INF website the “mobile first, content everywhere” social media campaign created and delivered by QTV Sports in conjunction with Botswana TV and Tsena Online, attracted two million views on Facebook, one million on TV, over half a million on YouTube and 55 000 on Twitter – making it the INF’s biggest online audience ever for a world netball event.

Former Botswana Netball Association president  Tebogo Lebotse -Sebego said in an interview that she was happy that INF was short listed for the award for Netball World Youth Cup 2017.
The BT Sport Industry awards, she said were the most prestigious commercial sports awards in Europe and the industry’s flagship event, and for #ReABaTsaa to be short listed the Social Media Campaign of the Year, was a milestone.

“For INF to be short listed for an event that took place in Botswana is huge in terms of potential for sport to be driven through social media.
First of all I have to thank  BTV because they were the producers of the event Tsena Botswana Online because they partnered with INF to make sure that Netball World Youth Cup 2017 was streamed online,” she said.

Lebotse -Sebego said BTV, Tsena Botswana Online and QTV Sports made sure that the tournament was fully on the social media space.

She said to be short listed with the likes of Messi Piano was a huge achievement not only for Netball World Youth Cup 2017, but also for the INF given that it was the first time they entered the awards.

Meanwhile, a press release from INF says the BT Sport Industry Awards judging process is one of the most transparent and stringent procedures of its kind with over 60 hours of intensive judging.

It says conducted in two stages and all overseen by EY, the process begins with the entries being reviewed and judged by the steering committee, featuring figureheads and industry heavyweights, to produce the official shortlist. This element of the process spans three weeks and sees more than 80 experts from across the industry and beyond decide the final list.

Furthermore, it says the BT Sport Industry Awards Judging panel will then decide the winner of each category.
The awards will be held in London on April 26. Ends
