Quality of coffins within standard

The quality of coffins offered to destitute burials are within the standard for manufacturing, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Frans Van Der Westhuizen has informed Parliament.
Mr Van Der Westhuizen said local authorities engaged government funded coffin manufactures and licensed funeral undertakers for coffins as well as mortuary services for destitute burials.
He said, the ministry would inform all local authorities to monitor the situation with a view to ensuring that no poor quality coffins were offered for destitute burials.
Maun East MP, Mr Kostantinos Markus had asked the minister if he was aware of the poor quality of coffins for the destitute. He also wanted to know what would be done to improve the situation. Ends
