Union Cycling International (UCI) has given Gobona Mantle yet another opportunity to attend the women’s specific coaching course scheduled for March 3 to 17 at the UCI World Cycling Centre (WCC) in Aigle, Switzerland.

A press release from Botswana Cycling Association (BCA) states that Mantle of Gaborone Cycling Club has also been nominated to level one coaching course together with Kagiso Potongwane of Cycle for Life and Thabo Seomile which commenced on February 4 and expected to end on February 9 at the World Cycling Centre Africa (WCCA) Potchefstroom, South Africa.

It says the trio left for Aigle, Switzerland on February 3 and are expected back in the country on February 9.

“The programme is supported by Sport and Recreation South Africa,” says the release.

In other events, the release says four other Batswana cyclists are attending a Road Race Training Camp in Potchefstroom, South Africa, that started on January 19 and is expected to end on February 9 courtesy of WCCA.

The release further states that the camp is for development purposes targeted at elite and junior women, and elite/U23 and junior men categories.

“High level coaching and performance evaluation will be provided during the camp and the athletes are expected back home on February 11,” reads the release.

The selected athletes include Oabile Tingwane (male) and Segomotso Ditlhakeng (female) of Jon Mol Cycling Club, Tshepo Sentsho (male) of Tsela Riders Cycling Club and Tsaone Latiwa (female) of Botrail Cycling Club. ENDS
