04 Feb 2018

Sankoyo Bush Bucks supporters left Maun Sports complex a disappointed lot after the team failed to collect three points against BDF XI at Maun Sports Complex on Saturday (February 3).

The two teams played 0-0. Supporters came with high expectations that the team would be boosted by the availability of the head coach Philani Mabhena who had been struggling to finalise his papers to be on the bench.

His assistant, Tiiso Gadimang has been at the helm of the team for the entire first round and managed to keep the team in the top eight bracket.

However their opponents on the day proved  to strong for the Ngurungu Boys.

Supporters also believed that Ngurungu would use the home ground advantage to dominanate the game.

Ngurungu boys started the game on a high pace showing their intentions to win the game.

However the army boys defended with numbers blocking Sankoyo’s attempts to test the net.

In the second half, BDF  XI came back with a renewed zeal to take their play to another level.

They made frequent attacks but failed to convert the opportunities into goals.

The game was characterised by rough tackles which resulted in BDF XI losing one of their key players, Rashid Yosuf Mandawa due to an injury and Keagile Kobe coming in as a replacement.

Sankoyo also lost one of their middle fielders Bobby Motlhabankwe who was red carded for rough tackle and hardly some minutes after that, BDF XI player, Kobe was also red carded, resulting in both teams playing with 10 players each.

In an interview, both team coaches accepted the outcome, noting that it was a fair result considering that both teams fought hard to collect the much wanted points.

BDF coach, Nelson Setshwane said it was a tough encounter noting that his boys tried to put every chance they got into good use but the rivals frustrated their efforts.

For his part, coach Mabhena shared the sentiments that the game was tough, noting that their opponents were aggressive and physically fit as compared to his boys. ENDS
