Rantuana commends Mogobane Junior Secondary School
29 Jan 2018
Member of Parliament for Ramotswa, Mr Samuel Rantuana has commended Mogobane Junior Secondary School for improved performance.
The school reportedly attained 73.3 per cent pass mark in the just released Junior Certificate results, hence making it to the top five performing schools in the country.
The MP during a kgotla meeting in Mogobane recently stated that school management, teachers, students and parents needed to be commended for the job well done.
He said for a long time, Mogobane Junior School had been a non-performing school which led to most parents from the village preferring to send their children to Lobatse schools.
This was despite the fact that they had to incur transportation costs for their children who commuted to and from Mogobane on a daily basis. The situation also led to the school being under subscribed for a long time, he said.
Therefore, Mr Rantuana believed the improved performance would instill confidence on parents to have their children school at Mogobane junior.
Mr Rantuana who was touring his constituency ahead of the upcoming Parliament session, stated that there was need for review of the budget allocations.
He said ministries such as local government and rural development as well as that of health and wellness needed to be given more money as they had direct impact on the community.
Mr Rantuana explained that giving such ministries more money would bear fruit in developing the communities as those ministries affected people lives on a daily basis.
He pointed that the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development despite being a huge ministry with many responsibilities was never adequately budgeted, hence councils seemed to be failing on their mandates.
However, he cautioned the constituents not to expect more development from the upcoming budget speech, adding that more money would be for recurrent budget.
Nonetheless, he said the Economic Stimulus Programme and the Constituency Development Fund would continue to address some of the challenges faced by the constituents.
In Mogobane, he said the Constituency Development funding would go mostly towards paving the roads which would address the long time village cry. Ends
