Rollers ready for Merrikh in CAF

Preparations to host the Sudan-based team Al-Merrikh SC in the CAF Champions League first leg are said to be running smoothly.

High riding Township Rollers in the local leaque will play against Al-Merrikh SC in the preliminary round on February 10 at the National Stadium.

Briefing the media, the club general manager, Sydney Magagane said their opponents will arrive on February 8, in the afternoon.

He said they were cognisant that Al-Merrikh was the best team in Africa, adding that for the past 19 years, they had never been booted out of the CAF Champions League at preliminary stage.

Furthermore, he said the team was currently ranked fifth in Africa, adding that was a clear indication that they were not a push-over.

“We are aware that we have an uphill battle. But we do have faith in our boys. We can do it. Everything is possible,” he said.

Furthermore, Magagane said Rollers advanced party had an opportunity to travel to Sudan as way of appreciating the facilities that they would be using.

“We are happy with what we saw. Sudan is a good place, looking at the food, accommodation and the way they welcomed us. It was very relaxing,” he said.

Talking about security and safety of players given that the country had been plagued in war, he said Khartoum was a very peaceful place.

Club president Jagdish Shah said Rollers was ready to host adding they had fully prepared in terms of security, stadium and the team was also ready to face their opponents.

Match Tickets are already available at Rollers office at CA Sales Office Complex, Commerce Park, near Kgale Hill, Gaborone and VIP tickets go for P200, grandstand P100, while Panda stand and elsewhere is P50 and P30 respectively. ENDS
