Parliament has been informed that climate change affects everybody including people living in the flood plains. 

The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Mr Tshekedi Khama said when responding to a question from the MP for Gaborone South, Mr Kagiso Molatlhegi in Parliament on July 9.

Minister Khama explained that his ministry provides weather forecasts and compiles scientific evidence on expected climate trends.

He said this information is made available to the overseers of various areas of responsibility, including the authority that oversees people living in the flood plains who in-turn advise their stakeholders on adaptation and mitigations measures for climate change.

MP Molatlhegi had asked the minister whether climate change has any impact on people living in river flood plains; and what his ministry has done to help these communities adapt to climate change. ENDS
