Different speakers described the late Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC) employee, Kefilwe Ramphaleng as a shrewd administrator, who performed her duties diligently with minimal supervision.
Ramphaleng passed-on, on Wednesday after a short illness and buried at her home village of Rasesa on Sunday.
Speaking at her memorial service on Friday, Botswana Athletics Association (BAA), president Mooketsi Thari said Ramphaleng was a hard working administrator who was eager to learn.
He said as BAA, they worked with Ramphaleng before she was employed by the BNSC as a volunteer, adding that after her hard work BNSC decided to hire her and second her to BAA.
He said Ramphaleng was an obedient employee who at the same time did not mince her words if not happy.
“She was the first employee of BNSC to accompany the national team in some international trips as a manager. Remember back then it was not easy for BNSC employees to travel with national teams.
This was necessitated by the fact that she loved her job,” he said.
Thari further said after realising that Ramphaleng was a hard worker, BAA did not hesitate but sent her to a management course in Johannesburg, South Africa to sharpen her skills.
“As BAA we then selected her for an Advanced Sport Management Course that was conducted by Botswana National Olympic Committee under the IOC Olympic Solidarity, and she did not disappoint,” he said.
BNSC sport development manager-administration, Steve Botlhasitse said Ramphaleng was employed by BNSC in 2006 and she worked with different national sports associations until recently where she focused on  Botswana Football Association, Botswana Golf Union, Motorsport, Fencing, and Karate.
He said she had worked in different committees amongst them Africa Union Sports Council-Region Five, as a general team manager, adding that she had also worked in many sub-committees like those for Botswana Games. ENDS
