Masisi residents celebrate life of Ntwayakgosi

Vice President Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi joined hordes of mourners in Moshupa to celebrate the late Ms Leungo Ntwayakgosi’s life on January 13.
Ms Ntwayakgosi passed on at the Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital (KSDAH) on January 5, aged 66 after a short illness.
Speaking during the funeral service, Mr Masisi described Ms Ntwayakgosi as a kind, loving sister and friend whose life touched many other lives in a special way.
Mr Masisi also shared that Ms Ntwayakgosi was a devout Christian and loyal member of the Botswana Democratic Party. “Her vote for the party was always certain,” he said.
VP explained that Botswana was a safe and peaceful country because of concerted efforts of good natured people like Ms Ntwayakgosi.
He said her death was a serious blow not only to the Ntwayakgosi family but the entire community and government too.
Mr Masisi, also Member of Parliament for Moshupa/Manyana has thus challenged residents to take a leaf from Ms Ntwayakgosi’s life as a mother, wife, Christian and self-sacrificing community builder, adding he was particularly happy that only death separated her from her husband. Although she is gone, Mr Masisi assured those she left behind that her absence would never separate him from them.
Meanwhile, Mr Masisi shared that new boreholes had been drilled to supply Kanye and Moshupa with water while residents awaited the completion of the North-South water carrier pipeline.
Upon completion, the pipeline is expected to address the water shortage concerns across the Southern district.
Former Bakgatla Primary School PTA chairperson, Mr Lekgoa Tsalaile who once worked with Ms Ntwayakgosi described her as selfless and big hearted mother.
He shared that Ms Ntwayakgosi who worked as a cook at the school was once laid off together with some colleagues but she toiled away without pay until the management was moved by her gesture and started paying her again. “She said she was content to work for her community with or without pay,” he said.
Her sister, Ms Lindy Disane also described Ms Ntwayakgosi as a loving person and pillar of strength for her family. She leaves behind her husband, six children, three siblings and 13 grandchildren. ENDS
