Ostriches hire Mafu

07 Jan 2018

Orapa United last week announced Bongani Mafu as their new head coach on a two-year contract.

The former Mochudi Centre Chiefs boss took the reins from Daniel Nare who was at the helm for five league and two cup matches as interim coach after the dismissal of Madinda Ndlovu in November last year.

Zimbabwean trainer Mafu quit Chiefs over outstanding payments after guiding them to seventh place in the Btc Premiership last season.

He finds United in position six, 14 points adrift of log leaders Township Rollers, after a slow start to the season which prompted management to dismiss Ndlovu.

The Ostriches are however firmly in contention for Mascom Top 8 silverware after disposing off Security Systems to advance to the semi-finals.

"Orapa United Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Bongani Mafu as the team head coach. Mafu has signed a two-year contract which is resuming today," Ostriches public relations officer Kabo William announced.

"We are confident that the assembled technical team will maintain high standard of achievement that is in the team and we ask all to join us welcome them to Orapa United Football Club and wish them success," William said. ENDS
